Tim Ball is a Derbyshire based artist, and his paintings are fundamentally informed by these rural surroundings. They form part of a seasonal journey that documents the slow changes in the landscape and their impact on him. His work represents an often-visceral response to the familiar, rooted in what he calls his ‘wanderings’. Each painting begins with a walk, time spent absorbing shifts in light, shape, texture and focusing on a stripped back approach to capturing nature.
Working in Oils on a variety of surfaces, Ball moves fluidly between figurative and abstract depending on his response to the day, the atmosphere and the landscape around him. Central to his practice is a desire to embody a sense of place and to express a deeply personal connection to the land.
He graduated from Loughborough College of Art and Design and has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Most recently he exhibited as part of a twinning exhibition at the Chatillon Arts et Vigne festival Chatillon en Diois, France.
He was also selected to take part in A Generous space 3 Exhibition at the Huddersfield art gallery in 2023
He has recently exhibited at the Materiality edition 1 exhibition at The Handbag factory in Vauxhall in London.
His work aims to capture the moods of nature and the moments of stillness
