Calum McCutcheon works across painting and installation, with a practice led by play, process, and instinct. His paintings are cathartic and intuitive - burned, scratched, and collaged into layered surfaces that embody chance, emotion, and contemplation. Acting as a dialogue with himself, they provide a means of introspection and emotional processing.

McCutcheon also works with found objects, incorporating everyday materials discovered in overlooked places. These elements bring psychological resonance to his work while keeping him connected to his surroundings.

Alongside painting, his installations reimagine ideas prompted by psychotherapy, transforming them into immersive environments that encourage child-like wonder and accessibility. McCutcheon’s practice aims to broaden conversations around mental health, inviting self-reflection and questioning perception through material and experiential encounters.
