Robert Goldsmith

A professional artist and illustrator for over 30 years, Cheltenham-based Robert Goldsmith is best known for his exceptional watercolours. Fascinated by the different light, shade and reflection that is conjured by changing weather conditions, his Cheltenham townscapes and Cotswold landscapes demonstrate a confidence and ease that few ever attain with this demanding medium.

Robert's work has featured in exhibitions throughout the South West and in London?s prestigious Mall Galleries. It is a favourite among publishers, his work gracing a number of book jackets. He is also one of a select group of artists to be commissioned by the Post Office to create a series of commemorative stamps.

Robert has been the artist in residence at Cheltenham Music Festival for the last two years, his careful observation and skilled draughtsmanship coming to the fore in his quick-fire figurative sketches and beautiful portraiture.
