Ian Cole

Ian Cole was born in 1950 in Portsmouth. After initially training as a draughtsman he then went to Liverpool Art School as a ?mature? student to study Graphic Design. On leaving, he forged a living selling drawings and paintings through galleries. Fulfilling as this was, it was somewhat precarious and he found his way into television where he built a career in graphics and special effects editing. He left Carlton Television in 2005, since which time he has continued to freelance in broadcast television ? at Granada TV and locally at RagDoll Productions - balanced with an eager return to drawing and painting. His work has been shown in solo and mixed exhibitions in London (including the Pastel Society) and locally.

?I love working in oil pastels; they?re chunky and uncompromising and yet immediate and satisfying, allowing pure, solid colour to be mixed and pushed around on the paper until an exact nuance is found. Essentially it?s a colour draughtsmanship that I aspire towards.?

Ian Cole has 2 children and lives with his wife in Overbury.
