Beth Forrester
Beth is an artist who works using a variety of material, including metal, plaster, clay, paper and wood. She especially loves metal and its many qualities, and works it hot by forging it, or molten in the casting process.
She enjoys the process of casting, and is excited by the possibilities of the shapes she can achieve in such a durable material. She loves hollow metal forms, how they are imagined, and how they look feel and sound when you touch them.
Her subject matter is about connections of various types, often involving animals. Her animals often have a story-like and symbolic quality and are not life like representations. The work is to do with shapes and lines that she is drawn to within her subjects, ideas about relationships animals might have with each other and us, and the human attributes that we give to animals.
