Anna Bagnall
Anna's collection is an eclectic mix of processes that compliment and enhance the delicate beauty of the coral accents.
The delicate coral structure is simulated by twice etching her trademark design into its surface. Acid etching plays a significant role in marrying the coral with the whitewashed silver. The silver has a white iridescence as a result of repeatedly heating the metal and shocking it, by dropping it in acid whilst hot, thus bringing the pure silver to the surface, which is then rubbed over with a fine emery paper to reveal all of the hidden, coral-like layers for a subtle tone and finish.
Coral-like forms are worked in wax and cast in silver. Porcelain is another material sometimes included; all of which add further dimensions to the work and provide an alternative to the natural form.
Small stones are tube set and added to the domed and etched forms to represent the coral sparkling in the sunlight, beneath the waves.
