Dubliner Alan began his career in corporate banking before following his creative passion into the world of ceramics. He now runs a family pottery studio, Honeybourne Pottery based Worcestershire. As well as offering high quality pottery experiences, Alan produces his own range of decorative and functional wares.
Alan's clean and contemporary forms are hand thrown on the potter's wheel using a smooth white earthenware clay. His latest collection is inspired by Anglo-Japanese pottery.
In contrast with this clean form, his decorative style intends to capture the energy and flow of water, both in nature and the movement of water on the potter's wheel. This is achieved by employing spontaneous hake brush decoration on a moving wheel, using a combination of decorating slips and glazes.
